The slopes of Vesuvius have been planted with vines since Roman times: the frescoes of Pompeii show Bacchus standing in front of the volcano covered in grapes. The Russo family has farmed this land for four generations, organically, on the dark volcanic soil that gives Lacryma Christi its mineral character.
Maurizio Russo and his family welcome you to their house among the vineyards for a private lunch. After a walk through the vines and the cellar, four courses of Vesuvian cooking follow at the family table, from local tomatoes and cheeses to pasta and slow-cooked meat, each paired with a different wine of the estate.
Easily combined with a morning in Pompeii, which is ten minutes away.

Day experience, accommodation not included. For your stay in Naples we suggest Decumani Hotel de Charme, set in the palazzo of the last archbishop of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, in the UNESCO-listed historic centre.
