Convent de la Missió

Convent de la Missió occupies the seventeenth-century convent built in Palma to train missionary priests, in the heart of the old town. The building has been reworked in a contemporary key: white, light-filled spaces, pared-back furniture and art on the walls, with the original vaults and stonework left exposed.

The hotel, a five-star grand luxury property for adults only, houses the Michelin-starred Marc Fosh restaurant on the ground floor and the Art Bar, which shows contemporary artists from the island. On the roof there is a terrace with a pool heated in winter, a sun deck and a small gym; the spa is indoors. The cathedral and the seafront are a fifteen-minute walk away.

The hotel belongs to the Torre de Canyamel group, a Mallorcan family business also active in farming and in supporting the arts. Reception is open 24 hours, with concierge service, luggage storage, private parking and airport transfers, free for guests staying in the Luxury Suite.

Convent de la Missió welcomes guests aged 16 and over only. A glass of cava is offered on arrival; early check-in and late check-out are subject to availability. The former chapel, now an event room for up to 70 people, hosts meetings and cultural events.

Rooms come in five types: the Doble Superior of about 25 m², the Doble Deluxe of up to 30 m², the Junior Suite of up to 37 m², the two-room Suite Premium of up to 50 m², each one different from the others, and the 75 m² Luxury Suite, with a Turkish bath and a private terrace with a hot tub.

Interiors are in light tones with designer furniture and understated details. All rooms have air conditioning, heating, soundproofing, free Wi-Fi, TV, a safe and room service.

The Marc Fosh restaurant, on the ground floor of the former convent, holds a Michelin star: the Kent-born chef was among the first British cooks to earn one in Mallorca, in 2002. The cooking is Mediterranean, with tasting menus built on seasonal Balearic produce from small local suppliers. The restaurant is closed on Sundays and Mondays; booking is recommended.

Breakfast is served every morning. For an aperitif or a glass of wine there is the Art Bar, among the works on display, and a snack bar is open during the day. Menus for special dietary needs are available on request.

The spa at Convent de la Missió has a sauna, an indoor pool and a relaxation room with water beds. The space is reserved exclusively for each guest, so it can be used privately.

Massages, facials, body scrubs, manicures and pedicures are available by appointment. Guests receive a 15% discount at the wellness centres of the group's other hotels: Fontsanta, Pleta de Mar and Can Simoneta.

Carrer de la Missió is a quiet street in Palma's old town, a few steps from the Mercat de l'Olivar, Plaça Major and the main shopping streets. La Seu cathedral, the Palau de l'Almudaina, the Arab Baths and the La Llotja quarter are all within walking distance, as are the city's many art galleries.

Palma airport is about 20 minutes away by car. Valldemossa and the Serra de Tramuntana are half an hour's drive; Canyamel, on the north-east coast, where the group's other hotels are, is about an hour away.
