Fontsanta Hotel Thermal Spa & Wellness

Fontsanta is built around the Font Santa, the only natural thermal spring in the Balearic Islands, in the countryside of Campos in southern Mallorca, a few kilometres from Es Trenc beach and the salt flats. Once a place of pilgrimage for local people, the spring now feeds the pools of a five-star adults-only hotel created from an old finca, with a main building and a wing set among gardens of lavender, palms and olive trees.

The thermal centre uses mineral water that rises at around 38°C: individual baths, an indoor pool, hot tub, sauna, Turkish bath, vaporium and relaxation room. Outdoors there are two pools, private hot-tub corners and sun terraces.

Fontsanta belongs to the Torre de Canyamel group and is a member of Preferred Hotels. It welcomes adults only (children are allowed only in the Luxury Villa, without access to the common areas); 24-hour reception, concierge, free parking with electric-vehicle charging, bicycles for guests and a paid airport shuttle.

The spa offers massages, mud and seaweed wraps, sea-salt scrubs and thermal-water facials, as well as yoga classes and a gym. The hotel closes in winter, roughly from mid-November to the end of February, and a minimum stay may apply in high season.

Thirty-six rooms and one villa: Deluxe rooms with terrace or private courtyard, Junior Suite Signature with terrace, Suites and Luxury Suites with terrace, and the Luxury Villa with pool, 160 square metres over two floors on the edge of Es Trenc natural park. Interiors are light, in white, sand and beige; some rooms have four-poster beds and outdoor space with loungers, and the suites have a living room with sofa.

In the room: air conditioning, flat-screen satellite TV, minibar, safe, hairdryer, bathrobes, slippers and toiletries.

The restaurant has an indoor dining room under the finca's original brick vault and a terrace among the greenery. The cooking is Mediterranean, with local produce such as Balearic citrus and Mallorcan pastries; in the evening there is a choice of tasting menu or à la carte, at lunch a lighter menu, plus room service.

Breakfast is a buffet with cured meats, cheeses, island produce and fresh juices. The bar serves cocktails and alcohol-free drinks; special diet menus on request.

The hotel lies in the municipality of Campos, on the road to Colònia de Sant Jordi, in a plain of fields, almond trees and dry-stone walls. Es Trenc beach, white sand and shallow water in a protected natural area, is 3 km away, five minutes by car or ten by bicycle; next to it lie the Es Trenc salt flats.

Colònia de Sant Jordi, where boats leave for Cabrera National Park, is 5 km away; the town of Campos about 8 km, Santanyí and the south-east coves around twenty minutes. Palma airport is 49 km, about 45 minutes by road.
