Borgo Il Poggiaccio is a historical 14th-century hamlet nestled between Siena and San Gimignano, which has recently been renovated without spoiling its magical mediaeval atmosphere. The 14 apartments, which vary in size from 40 to 160 sq m, are rented on a weekly basis. Borgo Il Poggiaccio has a large swimming-pool with a spacious terrace for sunbathing with deckchairs and sunshades, a tennis and basketball court, table tennis and mountain bikes. The beautiful restaurant, renowned for its Tuscan specialities, was converted from a mediaeval cellar and still evokes a magical atmosphere. A pleasant wine bar with live music complements it. 15 differently sized apartments (accommodating from two to six guests) with well equipped kitchens and lovely individually styled fireplaces are the offer of Borgo Il Poggiaccio, a fine resort complex of medieval origin. The apartments have been carefully restored, stylishly furnished and supplied with all mod cons. The raftered or vaulted ceilings, the stone walls and terracotta tilòed floors are the elements of genuine Tuscan rustic style.

La Cantina del Poggiaccio Restaurant welcomes guests into a magic, refined, spacious room with a distinctive medieval charm, while in good season candle-lit dinner is served on the terrace by the swimming pool. The cuisine is typically Tuscan, substantial and tasty, genuine with a creative touch. A rich vegetarian menu is also particularly taken care of. Raw products in season are always high quality and the dishes are prepared by the chef with skill and imagination. Home made pasta dishes are a must. Fresh fish can also be cooked for special dinners to be booked. The wine card is rich in Tuscan and national labels: tastings and takeaway are available.
For visitors wishing to learn the secrets of the Tuscan culinary art, cookery lessons are given daily by the chef. A complete four course meal is prepared and tasted.

LOCATION
The area around the town of Sovicille, stretching between Montagnola Senese and the Valley of the River Merse is varied and fascinating. The gentle hills are clad in thick woods, whereas the plain is a lovely patchwork of vineyards and orchards. Many small villagess of medieval origin have been splendidly preserved in this part of Tuscany. The tiny town of Sovicille is of Etruscan origin and was once the dwelling place of charcoal burners, woodcutters and carters. The former Nuti-Palmieri, at present Lechner Palace, is a remarkable artistic achievement of 18th century architecture and stands on the ancient town walls. The ancient church of Saint John the Baptist, sided with tall Romanesque bell tower, is worth a visit in nearby Rosia. Siena, a city of art well known all over the world for its monuments and Palio, can be easily reached in a few minutes' drive.

By car: coming from the north, exit Firenze-Impruneta along A1 Motorway, then proceed on Firenze-Siena motorway junction; if coming from the south exit Bettolle-Valdichiana along A1 Motorway then proceed on Bettolle-Siena motorway junction.

By air: Firenze airport, about 85 km away,
