Chiantishire, Brunello, the wonders of Siena and pleasant excursions close to lovely natural surroundings. A few minutes' drive away from the Relais the splendid, small walled village of Monteriggioni, founded in the 13th century, rises on top of mount Ala. Go through the entrance gate to be plunged into a medieval atmosphere. You can stroll along the rampart walks to fully enjoy the stunning view of the surrounding countryside or you can laisurely explore the square and the maze of alleys shaded by ancient stone houses and sided by tiny gardens.

Siena, the city of Palio and of Ricciarelli is less than half an hour's drive away. If you want to taste Ricciarelli, Siena's typical cookies, the best known confectioners' are Nannini, Pasticceria Nuova, Sinatti and Nocino. The best view of Siena is indeed from the top of Torre del Mangia, the third highest tower in Italy, which you can reach by climbing 400 steps. Then you can admire the other art masterpieces that Siena can boast, including the Cathedral, the works of art at Museo Civico and magnificent Piazza del Campo, and maybe indulge to a pleasant break for a glass of wine at Enoteca Italiana in Fortezza Medicea.

The beautiful Tuscan countryside is there for you to explore on foot, on a mountain bike or on horseback along the paths of Montagnola Senese, in the heart of the Chianti region and also along the ancient Via Francigena.

By car: if coming from thye north, exit Firenze-Certosa along A1 Motorway, then proceed on Firenze-Siena motorway junction and exit at Monteriggioni; if coming from the south, exit Bettolle along A1 Motorway, then proceed on Bettolle-Siena motorway junction and on Siena-Firenze motorway junctio, exit at Monteriggioni.
