Staying in an ancient monastery that has just been transformed into a hotel combines the great charm of Cortona with the comfort of fresh and contemporary environments equipped with every comfort and the most modern systems and services, as well as the unique convenience of being in the heart of the historic center being able to have a garage covered.
The restructuring of the Cortona Monastery was carried out under the careful supervision of the Superintendence of Arezzo. The original convent structure can be read in the layout of the spaces, in the beamed or vaulted ceilings, in the frescoes that have been recovered and restored, in the imposing corridors, in the loggias. All the furnishings are custom-made by local artisans, in a classic-modern style that blends harmoniously with the architecture of the building.
The friars' refectory has become a huge Hall and the bar is characterized by some fragments of frescoes dating back to 1676. The oldest area has been transformed into a Spa with an indoor swimming pool and the central open space now houses a garden and a Plunge Pool. A covered garage is available to customers who discover the beauties of the area by car.
Rooms
There are 40 rooms available for guests divided into 6 types, whose dimensions and configurations vary greatly: practically no room is the same as the other and this is the particularity and also the charm of the structure. Even the views are different: some rooms overlook the ancient road, others the roof garden with swimming pool, still others the courtyard or the roofs of Cortona and the valley. Wide corridors, lifts and stairs connect the rooms on the various levels.
SPA
Set in the ancient Roman cistern of which the brick vaults can still be observed. It is a very enjoyable swimming pool, with 17 seats and two Jacuzzi beds. The spaces also include changing rooms, two cabins for massages and treatments, a relaxation area and a wet area with an ice waterfall and a sauna.
