Hotel San Luca

The Hotel San Luca, managed by the Zuccari family, is a well-kept, sophisticated structure that exudes warmth and familiarity. The interior has been renovated while leaving the atmosphere and the old style. The building dates back to the mid-1800s and certainly reflects the influence of the nearby Mattatoio, the work of the great architect Ireneo Aleandri, author of the Teatro Nuovo and the internal transom. In particular, the internal courtyard with the Fonte Santa is remarkable, which is accessed from a large gallery similar to a cloister. In the courtyard, where you can have breakfast or drink an aperitif in the summer, the fountain stands dominated by the 1601 plaque. The stone, from the Latin text, was covered by ivy for a long time but with the restoration it became legible again: it features the coat of arms of the Municipality of Spoleto, a Saint Ponziano on horseback, and that of the deputy governor who had them affixed, Prospero Biscuri or Bisconti; next to it, semi-submerged by the waters of the spring, a large stone lion's head, from whose mouth still comes a jet.
From the moment you enter, there is a fresh luminosity with pastel walls reflecting the light, which penetrates through the open arches onto the central courtyard. In the hall, comfortable armchairs grouped around an 18th century fireplace and antique furniture help make guests feel at home. A pair of canaries in an ancient cage takes up the harmony of pastel colors against the background of an important collection of 19th century tureens.
