Hotel Casa del Poeta

Casa del Poeta is a seventeenth-century Sevillian manor house, restored with respect for its original architecture and materials, in the heart of the Barrio de Santa Cruz. As in the city's traditional homes, the rooms are arranged around a central patio with a fountain. Outside lie the pedestrian lanes of the old Jewish quarter, a few steps from the Reales Alcázares and a three-minute walk from the Cathedral and the Giralda.

This 17-room boutique hotel is designed for guests who value calm and personal service. Guests have the patio, a library, common areas hung with works of art and a terrace looking out over the dome of Santa Cruz, the Cathedral and the Giralda. Classical Andalusian guitar is played live every afternoon. Plaza de España and Santa Justa railway station are about fifteen minutes away on foot.

Service is attentive and personal, with a 24-hour front desk and a concierge who handles bookings, excursions and city information. Airport and station transfers, a private driver, in-room massages and hairdressing can be arranged on request.

Check-in is from 3 pm, check-out by noon. Private covered parking nearby is available on request at €30 per day; there is also luggage storage, laundry service and an ironing kit. The hotel is entirely non-smoking and accessible to guests with disabilities.

No two rooms are alike in layout or furnishing. Standard rooms are designed for rest; Superior rooms (24 m²) have a dressing area; Deluxe rooms (32 m²) open onto a private terrace over the rooftops of Santa Cruz; the Suites (39 m²) are the most spacious in the house. There are also Family Duplex rooms, with high ceilings and an extra bed on request, and Dreamer Duplex rooms on two levels, with the bathroom separate from the sleeping area.

All rooms are soundproofed and have air conditioning, free Wi-Fi, satellite TV, minibar, safe and a private bathroom with hairdryer, slippers and toiletries. Housekeeping comes twice a day, including evening turndown.

The hotel has no restaurant of its own. The homemade breakfast is served from 8 to 11 am and is not included in the room rate: it costs €20.50 per person (€16 for children aged 5 to 10) and can also be served in the room. Room service is available from 1 to 4 pm and from 7.30 to 11.30 pm; menus for special diets can be prepared on request.

For lunch and dinner, the Barrio de Santa Cruz has tapas bars and Andalusian restaurants just around the corner, and the front desk is happy to recommend and book. A welcome drink is offered on arrival.

Seville, the capital of Andalusia, gathers some of Spain's most important monuments in its old town: the Cathedral with the Giralda, the Reales Alcázares and the Archivo de Indias, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, are a few minutes' walk from the hotel. The Barrio de Santa Cruz, the former Jewish quarter, is a web of lanes, small squares and jasmine-scented patios.

María Luisa Park, Plaza de España, the Guadalquivir with the Torre del Oro and the Triana district are also within walking distance. By car, Carmona is about 35 km away, Jerez de la Frontera 95 km and Córdoba 140 km; Seville airport is about 12 km away.
