Albariza Hotel Boutique

Albariza Hotel Boutique occupies a nineteenth-century bodega in the old town of Sanlúcar de Barrameda, converted into a family home in 1865 in the style of the traditional casa sanluqueña. The restoration kept the original floors, beams, arches and doors, and arranged the fifteen rooms around an Andalusian patio with a fountain and orange trees, a three-minute walk from Plaza del Cabildo.

Shared spaces include a lounge with a café and in-house pastries, a reading room and a rooftop solarium overlooking the white roofs of the town. La Calzada beach is 800 metres away, and Jerez de la Frontera about 25 minutes by car.

Albariza is an independently run four-star superior hotel, with a 24-hour front desk and staff who speak Spanish and English. On request the team arranges transfers from Jerez airport and railway station, bicycle hire, guided walks around town, private excursions into Doñana National Park and water activities from canoeing to surfing.

Parking is available on request. The hotel is entirely non-smoking, accessible to guests with reduced mobility and run along sustainable lines: rainwater collection, LED lighting and waste separation. Two rooms are available for meetings and small private events.

The fifteen rooms face either the patio or the street, all with a balcony and plenty of natural light. Doubles (20-21 m²) have a 160 cm bed; Superior Doubles (22-26 m²) a 180 cm bed or twin beds; the Junior Suite (32 m²) adds a sitting area, large balconies over the patio and direct access to the solarium. Furnishings are pared back and light, with terracotta floors and wooden details.

Amenities: air conditioning, Smart TV, minibar, safe, kettle, hairdryer, free WiFi, private bathroom with shower, pure cotton linen, slippers and a pillow menu. Connecting rooms and an extra bed are available on request.

The hotel has no restaurant of its own. Breakfast is à la carte with no set times and is served in the patio: pastries baked daily in-house, plus continental and gluten-free options. During the day the lounge serves coffee, drinks and light bites, and hosts occasional food evenings.

For lunch and dinner guests head out: the tapas bars of Plaza del Cabildo, known for tortillitas de camarones, are a few steps away, and the seafood restaurants of Bajo de Guía, at the mouth of the Guadalquivir, are about fifteen minutes on foot, for Sanlúcar prawns with a glass of manzanilla.

Sanlúcar de Barrameda lies at the mouth of the Guadalquivir, facing Doñana National Park. It is the home of manzanilla, the wine that ages in its bodegas thanks to the Atlantic humidity, and its old town, listed as a historic-artistic ensemble in 1973, is split between the Barrio Bajo, around Plaza del Cabildo, and the Barrio Alto with the Palace of the Dukes of Medina Sidonia and the Castillo de Santiago. Columbus set out from here on his third voyage, as did the Magellan-Elcano expedition; every August the horse races on the beach draw visitors from all over Spain.

Boat trips to Doñana leave from the Bajo de Guía landing. By car, Chipiona is about 10 minutes away, Jerez de la Frontera and El Puerto de Santa María about 25, Jerez airport 35, Cádiz 50 minutes and Seville an hour and a half.
