Castello Sannazzaro

Castello Sannazzaro is a private historic residence of large size and charm. It was built following a concession from the Emperor Federico Barbarossa in 1163 to four Sannazzaro knights in which, among other privileges, they were authorized to build a castle in their possessions.
Certain documents attest to its existence from the end of the 1200s - the beginning of the 1300s.
Readapted several times in various periods, it was transformed into a country residence in the 18th century and restored and redecorated in 1854-57 according to the neo-Gothic taste.
It has always been owned by the Sannazzaros who still own it and who live there.
The complex is surrounded by a beautiful park where the Grana stream flows which once supplied water to the moat, the 19th-century English-style garden with tall trees has been made more comfortable with some corners where you can rest and enjoy the fresh air. The house also has an orchard and a large gazebo behind the stables, as well as many corners in which to forget about the present.

In the castle, guests can enjoy the pleasant relaxation of the countryside, immersed in a rarefied atmosphere, or set out to discover Monferrato, with its treasures of art, culture, gastronomy and wine. It can be an ideal place for those who want to discover some cities of the North West such as Milan, Genoa or Turin (about an hour's drive away) without giving up the pleasure of the countryside.

At guests' disposal some double rooms and common areas in which to relax, entirely furnished with period furniture mostly from the castle's collections.

Breakfast
Breakfast will be served in the medieval wing of the castle in a room with beamed ceilings and decorated with furniture and objects from the family collections from 1500 to 1900. Breakfast times are from 8.30 to 9.45. Exceptionally, different times can be agreed with the property.
