Villa Quiete

Villa Quiete is an eighteenth-century villa in the countryside of Montecassiano, two kilometres from the village and eight from Macerata. Built as a hunting lodge for Count Domenico Perozzi, in the nineteenth century it became the family’s summer residence and one of the salons of the Macerata area: here Countess Rita Cini Perozzi received Gioachino Rossini, who in 1853 dedicated to her the “Allegretto” for harp, whose score is displayed at the entrance. The villa has been a hotel since the 1970s and is now a four-star property.

It is surrounded by a park of centuries-old trees, with an Italian garden and a swimming pool created from the old swan pond. The interiors keep frescoed ceilings, stucco work, inlaid doors and windows, and a collection of works by Philippe Artias and Virgilio Guidi; the ground floor houses the lobby, the reception rooms, the Ristorante Rossini and the Magnolia Spa.

The villa has a 24-hour reception and room service. It hosts weddings, meetings and events dedicated to art and music, and is a bike hotel: on request it prepares everything needed for your bicycle and provides guides along the trails of the Marche hills.

Parking is free, with a charging station for electric cars. Pets are allowed and the property is accessible to guests with disabilities; the rooms are non-smoking.

The rooms are divided between the piano nobile and the second and third floors. Those on the piano nobile, of about 25 m², were the private apartments of the Perozzi counts: they keep the villa’s original furniture, wooden floors and frescoed ceilings, and open onto the frescoed hall. The upper floors, dedicated to artists from the Marche, house the Junior Suites of about 30 m² with a sitting area and a bathroom with whirlpool bath or large shower, two Suites of about 60 m² with living room and double bedroom, and double and twin rooms of about 17 m² overlooking the park.

All rooms have air conditioning and heating, minibar, TV, safe, telephone, desk, hairdryer, courtesy set and free Wi-Fi; the beds have Dorelan mattresses.

The Ristorante Rossini, also open to non-residents, offers an à la carte menu of meat and fish inspired by the cooking of the Marche, with seasonal produce from the surrounding countryside and a cellar of local and Italian labels. Dinner is served in the three connecting rooms dedicated to Philippe Artias, while the Art Nouveau Sala Sferisterio, opening onto the park, hosts banquets for up to 280 guests.

Breakfast is included in the stay; in the warmer months breakfast, lunch and dinner are also served in the park, in the shade of the old cedar. On request the kitchen prepares menus for special diets.

The Magnolia Spa is a private wellness area inside the villa, with Turkish bath, sauna, emotional showers, a heated whirlpool for two to four people, a relaxation room with a large daybed and a herbal tea corner.

A professional masseur offers treatments with organic essential oils made from local plants, to be booked in advance. In summer the swimming pool in the park is open, with a sun deck and loungers in the shade of the trees.

Montecassiano is a medieval hilltop village above the Potenza valley, one of the Borghi più belli d’Italia and holder of the Touring Club’s Orange Flag: within the walls, entered through three gates, you can visit the Collegiata di Santa Maria Assunta, the Palazzo dei Priori and the civic art gallery.

Macerata, with the Sferisterio and its summer opera season, is about 8 km away; Recanati, the town of Giacomo Leopardi, about 12 km, and Loreto about 25 km. The Conero Riviera and Ancona airport are around 40 minutes away; the recommended motorway exit is Loreto-Porto Recanati on the A14.
