Ai Lumi

Ai Lumi Bed & Breakfast is housed in a prestigious palace in the historic centre of Trapani. Its 10 rooms overlook the arches of the inner courtyard, a very cosy, intimate setting. The rooms, fully equipped with the best modern comforts, are simply yet elegantly furnished with great care for pleasant matching hues. On waking up guests are welcomed by a rich breakfast of home made jams, biscuits, cakes and fresh fruit. Accommodation is complemented by La Tavernetta ai Lumi, a refined restaurant hosted in the former stable of the Residence, a splendid venue to enjoy the flavours and tastes of traditional and genuine Sicilian cuisine. The Chef visits the local markets every morning to look for the freshest fish and fruit and the best meat. Guests can choose the best wine to accompany their dishes from an extensive list carefully stocked with special care for the quality and typicality of Italian wine production.

Rooms

Three options of comfortable accommodation are offered to guests. For a romantic getaway the elegant and refined Standard double Room with canopied bed and intimate atmosphere could be the perfect choice. The wooden beamed ceiling and the original 18th century flooring add a touch of exclusiveness, complemented by a splendid view over the courtyard.
The Monovano Suite would be ideal for longer stays. The wide and bright double room, where an additional bed can be easily arranged, splendidly accommodates two or three guests.
The Bivano Suite, a spacious, comfortable apartment specially designed for families, can accommodate up to five guests as it features a double room, a small living room with kitchenette and two single beds. Moreover the suite enjoys a splendid view over the centre of Trapani.
The three accommodation units are fully air conditioned, have private bath, fridge or minibar, TV and Wi-Fi Internet connection.

THE RESTAURANT

Step inside the former stables of the palace to enjoy a delicious lunch or dinner prepared according to the best tradition of Sicilian hospitality and cuisine. Rustic benches, traditional rush-covered chairs and a smiling restaurant manager will welcome you, just after his daily visit to the local markets to choose the freshest fish and vegetables and the best meat cuts. The best ingredients are used by the chef to prepare tasty dishes, such as seafood hors d'oeuvre, home made cassatelle (dough cushions stuffed with ricotta) boiled in broth, busiate (spiral-shaped pasta) with Sicilian pesto and fish soups. There is a well-stocked wine list with great care for the best Sicilian labels. In the summer you can dine under a pergola outdoors in the very heart of Trapani's historic centre.

LOCATION

The town of Trapani washed by two seas – where the Americas Cup yacht race was held, and overlooked by Mount Erice is one of the emerging toruist destinations of Sicily.
The historic centre is elegant and somehow reminiscent of Arabian atmosphere, with a maze of paved alleys sided by beautiful Baroque palaces. A leisurely stroll along central Via Garibaldi sided with lovely palaces (such as Palazzo Riccio di Morana and Palazzo Milo) and beautiful churches, including Badia Nuova, one of Trapani's oldest churches, is a must. Places worth a visit are also Via Fardella, Piazza del Mercato e del Pesce and Corso Vittorio Emanuele. If you have a sweet tooth do not miss a visit to the Antica Corte delle Ninfee historical confectionery, with its array of mouth-watering granite, cassatelle and cannoli.
Do you like the sea? Here it is as splendid and unspoilt as is nature. White exotic beaches and crystal blue waters at San Vito Lo Capo, with nearby Nature Reserve dello Zingaro, with numberless white coves and Caribbean-like atmospheres. Just off the coast near Trapani you can reach the Egadi Islands, a lovely archipelago surrounded by crystal-blue sea waters. For a romantic break you can take the cableway to Erice Castle, a splendid setting with a stunning lookout over Trapani and the nearby expanse of sparkling salt marshes.
When visiting western Sicily the town of Marsala, the temple and ruins of Segesta, founded by the ancient Elimi population, and of Selinunte, on the south-western coast, are undoubtedly important and popular tourist venues not to be missed.

How to get there
By car: from Palermo. A29 Motorway to Trapani
By train: Trapani railway station, on the Palermo-Trapani railway line.
By air: Trapani airport, about 15 Km from the hotel, or Palermo airport, about 90 Km from the hotel.
