Isola delle Api: an ancient Tuscan farmhouse which, already in the 1400s, served as a hotel, inn and shelter for travellers. The welcome is therefore inherent in the very stones of the house, rebuilt several times over the centuries, recently restored, respecting the traditional architecture, for comfortable hospitality
When the stagecoach took 8 hours from Grosseto to Siena, it was a real "motel" with a stable for changing horses.
The name of the structure is a pun on the surname (Isola) of the owner family and the choice to create a breeding of queen bees, in an uncontaminated area, without chemical pesticides, mild climate and available blooms; for years, it was a true Island of Bees: thousands of queen bees left from here, reared and fertilized naturally in an environment that has always selected very productive bees.
The Isola delle Api satisfies all the expectations of a holiday in freedom, without timetables, to enjoy the best of a stay "as it once was"; days to live at your own pace, in a comfortable and welcoming home, immersed in a world of nature, of tastes and flavours, of history, of silence, of wide spaces, of proud traditions.

The Isola delle Api is a convenient starting point for the discovery, off the beaten track, of many historical, artistic and natural treasures unknown to the hurried tourist: from the recently discovered, untouched "tomb of the badger" 3 km from Fercole, to the Etruscan museums, to the Abbey of San Galgano, to the monumental tomb of Ildebranda, to the ancient Etruscan "vie cave" excavated in the tuff of Sovana, to Pitigliano, to Pienza, to the "Giardino dei Tarocchi".
The sea in Maremma offers various choices: from the free beach of Principina, in the Uccellina nature reserve, to Castiglione della Pescaia, to the jewel of Cala Violina, up to the island of Giglio.
The nearby thermal baths of Petriolo and the particular natural environment of the Farma river are a unique marvel for nature and trekking lovers.
Siena is just over 35km away: the Palio is held in Piazza del Campo on July 2nd and August 16th, a special occasion to experience the incredible atmosphere of an ancient tradition lived with enthralling passion.
Florence, with its artistic treasures, is easily reachable by car or bus, to be free from city traffic
