Castello di Bossi

History
The castle of Bossi is located in the municipality of Castelnuovo Berardenga, on the road that branches off from the old Chiantigiana, in the locality of Pianella, to go up to Brolio, in the midst of evergreen woods and long rows of vines. The peculiarity of the place, rich in centuries-old trees, fossil deposits and various forms of spontaneous vegetation, has interested, since the most remote times, many scholars who have analyzed its various peculiarities. The name Bossi seems to derive from the military treasure of the Roman armies, which was brought to the camps to pay the militias. It was so called because it was built, in all probability, with boxwood boards, precious and very rare wood. From some inscriptions found in an old wall of the rectory of San Marcellino, dating back to between the 1st and 2nd centuries AD, it appears that this area was the site of a Roman settlement. The first certain testimonies of families living in the Bossi area date back to the 9th century, when a noble group called the Berardenghi settled there.

Hospitality
In a classic Tuscan farmhouse and in a former barn, 8 apartments have been created. The apartments are furnished in a simple and rustic style and have equipped outdoor areas. On the lawn adjacent to the farmhouse, in a panoramic and dominant position, there is a 12x6 swimming pool with a view of Siena. Castello di Bossi enjoys a very quiet position and is inserted in a wonderful landscape, which offers the possibility of walking and cycling.
