romantic is the very essence of the Castello di Spessa di Capriva del Friuli, which with its unmistakable silhouette stands on top of a small hill, in the heart of the Collio of Gorizia, a land of great wines and ancient

history. Immersed in the greenery of a magnificent Italian garden, surrounded by the vineyards of

the estate to which it gives its name, the manor of medieval origin was for centuries the residence of the nobility of Friuli and Trieste. Among his illustrious guests (from Lorenzo Da Ponte, the famous Mozart librettist, to Emanuele Filiberto d'Aosta), there was also Giacomo Casanova, who - hosted by the then owner Conte Lui gi Torriani - found refuge and tranquility to write and he greatly appreciated the wines, which he defined in his Memoirs as "of excellent quality".

To pay homage to its most illustrious guest, one was drawn in the historic park surrounding the castle

romantic literary walk among centuries-old trees, arbor, balconies adorned with statues: 10 stages marked by sort of wrought iron book pages, where Casanova's phrases about love, women, friendship, life are engraved.

All around, the vineyards of the winery that produces fine Doc Collio and Isonzo wines, and the 18-hole golf course whose layout is intertwined with the vineyards.

In the basement of the castle you can visit the cellars, where the refining of the wines produced by the company of the same name, famous since the thirteenth century, takes place. They are the oldest and most scenic in the Collio.

The resort offers the possibility to stay overnight in 4 structures, each with its own well-defined style, among which guests can choose the preferred accommodation.
