Capri is best approached from the sea. Leaving the small harbour of Santa Lucia, beneath the Castel dell'Ovo, the boat crosses the Gulf of Naples in about an hour and then follows the coast of the island: the Faraglioni rocks, the Green and White Grottoes, the cliffs below Villa Jovis, where the emperor Tiberius spent his last years.
The day is yours to shape with the skipper: swimming in coves that cannot be reached by land, lunch ashore at Marina Piccola or in one of the beach restaurants, a walk up to the Piazzetta. The return in the late afternoon, with Vesuvius ahead, is one of the finest views in the Mediterranean.
Departures depend on sea conditions; the skipper confirms the day before.

Day experience, accommodation not included. For your stay in Naples we suggest Decumani Hotel de Charme, set in the palazzo of the last archbishop of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, in the UNESCO-listed historic centre.
