Château de Haute-Serre has been a historic landmark since the 16th century, set at around 300 metres of altitude on the winding banks of the river Lot, in the historic Cahors appellation (south-west France). After being entirely destroyed by phylloxera in the late 19th century, the vineyard was reborn in 1971 thanks to the pioneering vision of Georges Vigouroux. Today, the fourth generation, led by Bertrand-Gabriel Vigouroux – named the world’s best Malbec producer by the prestigious magazine The Drinks Business – crafts wines of absolute excellence. The estate’s secret lies in a unique geology of Kimmeridgian soils enriched with veins of underground blue clay and iron, a natural alchemy that allowed the “Grand Malbec” cuvée to make its historic debut on the prestigious Place de Bordeaux.
