A night at Palacio de Canedo, an 18th-century manor house in the heart of El Bierzo that still makes its own wine. In the afternoon a guide leads you through the winery: the production hall, the cellar where the Xamprada sparkling wine rests, the ageing area and the preserves workshop; weather permitting, the tour continues among the vines aboard the carroviñas. It ends with a guided tasting of three organic Mencía and Godello wines.
In the evening, dinner is served in the palace restaurant, with traditional Bierzo cooking based on the estate's own produce and that of its neighbours, from wood-roasted peppers to vegetables from the kitchen garden. Ponferrada and Villafranca del Bierzo are twenty minutes away, Las Médulas about forty-five.

Palacio de Canedo is an 18th-century manor house surrounded by the vineyards of El Bierzo, in the province of León, restored by José Luis Prada and protected as a Bien de Interés Cultural. It has fifteen rooms with parquet floors, exposed beams and handmade wooden furniture, most of them overlooking the vines: doubles, superior doubles, junior suites with hydromassage bath and fireplace, and the El Palomar suite in the tower. The palace also houses the restaurant, the winery with the estate's own wines, gardens with a terrace and a shop selling its produce.
