Florence's two great collections tell the story of the Renaissance from beginning to end. At the Uffizi, Giotto and Cimabue lead to Botticelli's Birth of Venus and Primavera, to Leonardo's Annunciation, Raphael, Titian and Caravaggio. At the Accademia, Michelangelo's David stands at the end of a corridor lined with his unfinished Prisoners, still half caught in the marble.
With a licensed Florentine guide the day follows your interests and your pace, with a pause for lunch between the two museums. The Accademia is a five-minute walk from Loggiato dei Serviti, which faces Brunelleschi's portico on Piazza Santissima Annunziata.
Both museums are closed on Mondays.
