Bard Fort

The imposing Bard Fort blocks the Aosta Valley at a strategic point in the region, ideal for preventing invaders from beyond the Alps from accessing the plain. The current building replaces an older fortification, destroyed by Napoleon's troops after the siege in May 1800. The structure consists of several independent buildings, defended by massive walls and equipped with gunports.

Perfectly preserved, the Fortress has now become a cultural center, hosting permanent museums and high-level temporary exhibitions.
