Why visit this structure:
The history of the Cantico emerges from the tales of the elders, all united by a common thread: 400 years of history, of life, of passions... There are 400 circles of trunks of scholastic olive trees that surround it, planted by the friars who laid the first stones of the small convent, chosen for its privileged location, overlooking the lake, full of energy and close to an ancient water source that still feeds it today. It is from this spiritual community that the known history of this ancient place begins, where Etruscan finds testify to its vitality and energy since much earlier times, when Mount Penna, austerely dominated by the Canticle, was one of the crossing points on the road between Chiusi and Perugia, two of the most illustrious cities of the kingdom of the "Mystic People."
Purchased in 1800 by the noble House of Pentini, a noble family, cited several times among the nobles in heraldic studies, who, at the end of the 19th century, expanded the ancient convent into its current form, with its characteristic L-shape that makes it unique and unusual compared to the typical forms of Umbrian-Tuscan farmhouses. For the Pentini family, the place represented a place of rest and recreation, of great hunting trips and dinners with friends, "the favorite place," as the last heir, Gianfrancesco, an esteemed doctor and surgeon, loved to call it. At their service are numerous farming families who have seen their children born within the walls of the ancient farmhouse and have made its lands fertile.
When Francesco and Monia Micci, the current owners, first arrived at the old farmhouse, now abandoned since the post-war period, in 1999, riding their motorcycle along the road through the woods, now almost blocked by lush vegetation, they were struck not only by the beautiful location but also by the unique atmosphere of this place, which combines the austere stone forms with an unspoiled natural environment in a harmony of colors, scents, and sounds. It was as if they could hear, in the rustling of the wind among the olive trees, witnesses to so much history, the voices of the first monastic community and then of the Pentini family and their farmers.
This profound connection, this "call" of the place in search of a new soul, this "love at first sight," has transformed into a life choice. Still young and engaged and working as consultants, in their free time they were always searching for magical places where they could experience unforgettable moments as a couple. The purchase of that property, with the enthusiasm and recklessness of a young couple in love, pursued a dual dream: to create a special place where couples in love could experience moments of romance and relaxation, cared for and pampered, and to change their lives, to create a place for their future as a couple and as a family, a choice of love and life.
The spirituality of the founding friars reconnected with the love of Monia and Francesco, who, together with the power of nature, became the new soul of this place, awaited for 50 years. The ancient village was revived with the birth of the Canticle of Nature, whose name is no coincidence: it means "spiritual sound," a word taken from St. Francis, a saint very dear to us Umbrians. On July 3, 2003, coinciding with the birth of their first daughter, Aurora (followed the following year by Alessandro), the first guests arrived: a timeless place transformed into a charming resort. Since that day, Monia and Francesco have added a new piece to the village every year, in a spirit of constant growth. From a lifestyle choice, it has become a family story where its founding values—Nature, Spirituality, and Love—remain the elements that still make it a unique place today.
